The opportunity

When Hurricane Helene devastated East Tennessee and North Carolina in September 2024, Iron Sheepdog's platform and broker network became the backbone of a large-scale recovery effort. Four broker partners: Xavier Gray of Hero Trucking, Dekota Marshall of 1st & Goal Hauling, Lamont Williams of Stratcon Contracting, and Miguel Miranda and Peter Cruz of 3531 Trucking, rapidly mobilized fleets from across the country to clear debris and rebuild temporary roads. The platform provided real-time truck visibility even in areas with spotty GPS and cell service, while the existing broker network gave teams immediate access to trusted partners.

In total, the effort moved 249,756 tons of material across 15,646 loads, with a peak of 113 active trucks in a single day, proving that Iron Sheepdog's value extends well beyond a typical construction site.

Even when the GPS went out, we could see our drivers in the app, which worked reliably even in the early days.
