Passion · Intensity · Energy | People · Integrity · Empowerment | Product · Innovation · Efficiency
Every role at Iron Sheepdog is expected to embody the Iron Sheepdog Standard: industry-leading software backed by White-Glove Service and operational excellence, delivered by a flat, fast-moving, transparent, results-driven team.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Mobile Quality Assurance Engineer ensures the reliability and performance of Iron Sheepdog's multi-platform fleet and logistics management SaaS — spanning our legacy React web app, modern Next.js web app, React Native mobile application, and backend infrastructure. Sitting within our fully remote Engineering team, this role contributes to and expands our automated testing frameworks and supports every stage of the software development lifecycle. Success in the first 6–12 months means growing, repeatable automated coverage for our mobile application, expanded E2E coverage across our CI suites, and fewer defects reaching the hard-working brokers, contractors, and haulers who depend on our platform every day.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Test Automation & Framework Development
- Write, maintain, and expand end-to-end (E2E) testing coverage using Cypress across our parallel CI suites.
- Contribute to the setup and ongoing expansion of our mobile automation framework using Playwright or a comparable tool (e.g., Detox, Appium), establishing repeatable, scalable automated test coverage for our React Native application.
- Write unit tests using Jest to ensure code quality across components and utility functions.
Backend & Platform Validation
- Validate backend logic, Cloud Functions (Node.js), and Firestore security rules using the Firebase Emulator Suite.
- Collaborate with engineers to test and validate AI-powered features, including Google Vision AI for task photo OCR and Document AI for document classification.
CI/CD & Environment Management
- Ensure smooth test execution and integration within our Bitbucket CI/CD pipelines.
- Use our library of 95+ Chrome snippets (browser automation scripts and admin utilities) to support environment maintenance and setup.
Quality Insights & Collaboration
- Use session replay and heatmap tools such as Smartlook to debug UX issues, reproduce bugs, and improve overall application quality.
- Partner closely with the engineering team across all stages of the software development lifecycle, championing a White-Glove standard of quality for every release.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- 2+ years of professional software testing or quality assurance experience.
- Experience testing mobile applications built with React Native.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks — specifically Cypress for E2E testing and Jest for unit testing.
- Hands-on experience with Playwright or another mobile/cross-platform automation framework (Detox, Appium).
- Experience testing modern web applications built with React 18 and Next.js 14.
- Familiarity testing Node.js backends and NoSQL databases, particularly Google Cloud Firestore.
- Experience with Git version control and code-quality tooling such as ESLint and Prettier.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with demonstrated success working in a remote team environment.
Preferred
- Familiarity with Expo and mobile CI/CD pipelines using EAS Build and EAS Submit.
- Understanding of data warehousing and testing data synchronization processes with Google BigQuery.
- Experience testing third-party API integrations such as Twilio, SendGrid, Checkbook.io, or Samsara.
- Exposure to, or strong interest in, testing AI and machine learning applications.
